Home » Webinar 20 April 2021 - Hosts and Support Organisations

The webinar on edge computing - industry vertical viewpoints on 20 April 2021 is hosted by four 3GPP Market Representation Partners (MRPs) as part of a 5G End-User webinar and workshop series that began in February 2019. The series is designed to lower barriers to 5G and standardisation across industry sectors. The four organisers are: 5G-IA, 5GAA, 5G-ACIA and PSCE, sometimes with support organisations to bring in additional insights from their respective experts.

About 5G-IA

The 5G IA is the voice of European industry for the development and evolution of 5G. In the 5G Public-Private Partnership (5G PPP), the 5G IA represents the private side and the European Commission the public side. The 5G IA is committed to the advancement of 5G in Europe and to building global consensus on 5G. To this aim, the Association brings together a global industry community of telecoms & digital actors, such as operators, manufacturers, research institutes, universities, verticals and SMEs and ICT associations. The 5G IA carries out a wide range of activities in strategic areas including standardization, frequency spectrum, R&D projects, technology skills, collaboration with key vertical industry sectors, notably for the development of trials, and international cooperation. For more information you can refer to the websites: https://5g-ia.eu and https://5g-ppp.eu. As the Horizon 2020 framework programme comes to an end and the new Horizon Europe framework programme launches, the 5G IA is preparing for the evolution of the 5G activities into the Smart Networks and Services contex, which will set the foundations for 6G. About 5GAA

The 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) is a global, cross-industry organisation of companies from the automotive, technology, and telecommunications industries (ICT), working together to develop end-to-end solutions for future mobility and transportation services. Created in September 2016, the 5GAA unites a large member base, including 8 founding members: AUDI AG, BMW Group, Daimler AG, Ericsson, Huawei, Intel, Nokia, and Qualcomm Incorporated, now counting over 130 companies.

Members span key players with a global footprint in the automotive, technology and telecommunications industries. This includes automotive manufacturers, tier-1 suppliers, chipset/communication system providers, mobile operators and infrastructure vendors. Diverse both in terms of geography and expertise, 5GAA’s members are committed to helping define and develop the next generation of connected mobility and automated vehicle solutions.

About 5G-ACIA

The 5G Alliance for Connected Industry and Automation (5G-ACIA) seeks is to maximise the applicability of 5G technology in connected industries, in particular the manufacturing and process sectors. 5G-ACIA works to ensure that 5G standardisation and regulation efforts adequately consider the interests and unique characteristics of the industrial domain.
5G-ACIA also strives to ensure that new 5G developments – including possible integration concepts and migration paths are understood by and transferred to the industrial domain, and also evaluates key technologies emerging from 5G standardization bodies. In addition, 5G-ACIA is striving to establish a common language and shared understanding of relevant aspects by embracing the entire ecosystem. Industry-specific needs are also discussed and elaborated, including the possible need for dedicated certification and similar processes. 5G-ACIA also identifies and articulates specific spectrum requirements of industrial 5G networks and explores new operating models, like for private or neutral host 5G networks within a plant or factory.
