5GCity: Video Acquisition and Production with Community media engagement in live events

Home » 5GCity: Video Acquisition and Production with Community media engagement in live events

In this vertical application, a professional broadcasting system is deployed in a 5G smart city to support live event scenarios involving also the video contents that users can acquire and share from their smartphones. We are designing and developing a mobile application capable of acquiring HD video from an event and streaming it (together with multiple other streams) through the 5G City platform. The 5GCity tool will communicate with the media services, configure them and establish the necessary communication channels to enable the user scenario and application logic that was defined by the end-users.

In terms of 5G functionalities, the 5GCity demonstrations, trials and pilots investigate:

  • Edge computing (video production at the edge).
  • Core-Edge computing coordinated orchestration.
  • Reliable and high bandwidth 5G connections.
  • Low latency.
