3GPP Core Networks and Terminals update from CT#87 (e-Meeting) March 2020

5G standardisation work in 3GPP continues despite the very difficult situation with the COVID-19 outbreak as delegates from all over the globe meet remotely to push forward their work.

This week CT (core networks and terminals) held its Q1-2020 Plenary as an e-Meeting (CT#87), with a focus on the completion of Release 16.

Despite the difficult circumstances, great progress has been made:

  • 296 documents handled.
  • 296 registered online participants.
  • 735 CRs (Change Requests) approved for Release 16 with 27 CRs for Release 15.
  • 28 new approved technical specifications.
  • 91% completion for Rel-16 CT aspects.

These outcomes would not be possible without the dedication and cooperation effort of 3GPP delegates and true also across all active Working Groups.

Hard work continues in Q2-2020 for the completion of Release 16 with e-Meetings continuing.

Report from Lionel Morand, 3GPP TSG CT Chairman.
