5G-PHOS demonstrates a 400 Gb/s 5G fronthaul network targeting Ultra Dense City applications. 5G-PHOS will exploit either Spatial Division or Wavelength Division Multiplexing technologies to create an ultra-high capacity fronthaul network for providing Gbps-grade mmWave access to demanding areas such as city centers, business districts, points of interest etc. 5G-PHOS will perform experimental evaluation in the joint AUTH/COSMOTE testbed, followed by a field-trial demonstrator at the premises of Ericsson Italia (TEI). 

In terms of ITU 5G functionalities, 5G-PHOS invesitgates: 

  • Ultra-capacity 5G Fiber-Wireless C-RAN fronthaul for highly dense city areas.
